Talented people that can look beyond known needs and requirements to envision new energy systems underpin everything we do. Our philosophy is all ideas are good ideas until proven otherwise.

Purpose

We exist for one reason – to conduct ground‐breaking research that helps free America from its addiction to foreign oil, energy price spikes and polluted air within this generation.

Passion

We believe that successful researchers must have the fire in their belly to make a difference in the world and find ways to accelerate R&D and lower risk until good ideas prove their promise.

Partnerships

We believe that research that goes beyond today’s energy needs requires alternative thinking and interdisciplinary teaming with likeminded organizations having complimentary skills and resources.

Patience

Creating new energy paradigms takes time. Stakeholders deeply entrenched and invested in today’s paradigms can’t be expected to embrace change overnight. Why should they? Give them time. persistence. When insiders invested in the status quo put up roadblocks, we’re unwilling to give up on disruptive ideas that don’t fit neatly anywhere in the beginning stages of development.

Priority

“Out‐of‐the‐box” research programs don’t create themselves. They require a shift in political and programmatic priorities – moving from incremental progress to transformational change.

Perseverance

Creating an affordable and reliable supply of clean energy is the most difficutl scientific and technological challenge facing America today. We're in it for the long‐haul. Join us.
