Humans are faced with the ever increasing challenge of supplying current energy demands while protecting both the earth’s resources and environment for future generations. With ever greater clarity, it is apparent that incremental and near-term change will not be enough to meet increasing energy needs in a sustainable manner. In this dynamic environment, a vision for global and transformational change requires strong partnerships with academe, national laboratories, industry, and the stakeholders who can drive policy changes.
Strong partnerships can forge national and international connections that will broaden the knowledge base in the region. A far-reaching vision and scope are required to transform nascent knowledge derived from Universities into the products, processes, and systems that will provide global energy, environmental, and economic solutions.
